I picked this flower from my garden a couple of days ago. 🙂
I’ve mentioned in previous FOTD posts (here and here)about the meaning of the name Nasturtium and that it is also edible, but there is another twist to these.
The nasturtiums received their common name because they produce an oil similar to that of watercress (Nasturtium officinale). The scientific name of the nasturtium genus is not actually Nasturtium but Tropaeolum (T. majus).

Not only do I get a lovely yellow nasturtium to look at this morning, but I find out another scientific fact about this plant. I like getting information in small doses like this; then I can digest it! Thanks. Hmmm…. the nasturtium chronicles……along with the poppy chronicles…..

Don’t go giving me ideas, Carol!!!
I’ve saved loads of Nasturtium photos this year already! 😉

How do you save them? Do you have them organized on your computer by topics? Like”flowers”, or by
“nasturtiums”– I would love to know how Cee has all those photos of hers organized.

I have my photos organised by date. (Year/Month). Now that i’m accumulating several thousand at some 100 or more per month this may have to change!! 😉

Yes, mine are automatically by date, but I was going to try to categorize them by topic, and at the same time, delete the poor shots. But, it is a hard discipline!!
