Flower of the Day – December 8, 2017 – Agapanthus.

One of the beautiful features of my city and it’s suburbs in the Summertime are the Agapanthus plants. Originally a brilliant blue was the most popular but lately a white variety has increased in popularity to the point where we now get about 50/50. Many gardens have them in their tens and sometimes hundreds, while most councils have them as road island plants in their thousands along the main streets and highways. These flowers love the sun!

I have about twenty plants, all blue, of which up to ten may produce flower stalks each year around 4-5 feet high. This was the first to begin to bloom so far. 🙂
