Cee’s Flower of the Day – April 10, 2017 – Tulips

Two days ago i posted a pic of the Red Cap Gum Tree flower – which is bright yellow! It was remiss of me to not show the reason for it’s name so without further ado allow me to correct that omission:

Red Cap Gum Tree – the Caps cover the flower pods before they bloom (an old pod is to the middle right edge of the flowers) while they are forming and then drop off as the flower spikes push out of the bud).

This one’s a little more obvious – the Red Flowering Gum… (complete with Bee)

On the enlarged pic you can see buds in various stages of blooming some still have their bud caps on. All these buds have a single flower while the Red Cap above has four flowers (and caps) to each, much bigger, bud
