There are many types of begonia from little bushy, leafy plants to quite large bush/tree like structures. Cane Begonias can grow quite large – this one is over a metre (3ft) tall and has a couple of dozen stems even though it’s growth is somewhat restricted by it’s container. The leaves are covered in spot patterns and look quite attractive even when not in flower.
I have had this cane begonia in a largish pot for several decades now and should probably split it and put it in two new pots with some fresh soil – then it would likely really take off and produce masses of these wonderful heart-shaped flowers that start out totally flat then open out into beautiful pink and yellow creations. 🙂

When they get enough water and the temperature is not too hot they produce batches of little light pink hearts, maybe up to 10 in each bunch, all hanging under a red-pink ‘skirt’ – lovely indeed! 🙂

They are amazing plants! This one is big but wonderfully delicate also. Such a big variety of sizes and shapes in the one genus. 🙂
Thanks for visiting! 🙂
