The warm Perth climate and ridiculously poor coastal plain soils are somehow just perfect for these flowers that come out in profusion every spring and stay throughout summer/autumn as long as there is full sunlight.
I have about five varieties of them but this may just be my favourite.
How many different colours can you count?
(The seed pods at the top are actually Freesia seeds getting ready to plant next year’s wonderful crop!) 😉

Ahhhh… that would be a ‘Gazania’ 🙂 – it’s a genus of the Asteracea (Aster) family of flowers. Native to S Africa and also my country of Aus and are grown also in California – they love the sun. Not sure of this exact sub-branch name, possibly Gazania Regis – i have a few of those but only one that looks this colourful. How many colours did you count?
