Flower of the Day – September 13, 2017 – ‘Bird’s Head’ Orchid – Phalaenopsis

Sometimes known as a Moth Orchid but the centre looks far more like a bird than a moth to me! ;–) Mine is not the best example of the bird head mimicry in the centre of this flower, but i think it is still quite a stunning specimen.

Orchids must be the most amazing species of plant on Earth with almost unlimited variety of designs and colours. I’m growing this one in a pot and it is in it’s second flowering season.

I love the little love heart ❤ top left of the left petal 🙂
