Flower of the Day – May 30, 2017 – Swan River Daisy (Plus bonus Swan!)

Another Australian local – named for the beautiful river that flows through my city of Perth as it is often found growing on the river’s sandy and slightly salty banks. The swans the river is named after are the black variety and is also the state’s emblem. We have few white swans here but as they generally prefer fresh water they are only found in upper reaches of our rivers and rarely visit the coast.

Remarkably all these daisy’s in this picture share a common root stem.
