Bible Quotes:

The following are quotes from Scripture that mean a great deal to me.

The page is an ongoing creation begun and inspired in Sept ’08.

The Aim however is to have the quotes parallel the ones in ‘Scientific Quotes:’ so that hopefully, i can bring closer together the understanding that both God and Science has to offer each and every one of us.

Cos frankly? i think the time for that is LONG overdue.

love.

  1. 1 My son, forget not my law; But let thy heart keep my commandments:2 For length of days, and years of life, And peace, will they add to thee.3 Let not kindness and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart: Prov 3:1-3

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Phi 4:7

Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life. Prov 4:23

2.

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:11-14

3.

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Jas 1:27

4.

20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.  (i can but Hope) Jas 5:20

5.

16 Wherefore we henceforth know no man after the flesh: even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know [him so] no more.

17 Wherefore if any man is in Christ, [he is] a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new.

18 But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave unto us the ministry of reconciliation;

2 Cor 5:15-17

6.

Romans Chapter 8 (read whole chap for best effect):

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

7.

19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. (Rom Ch 12)

8. Jesus Christ was NOT God – He spoke the Word and the Word was God but Christ himSELF was not. After his earthly death He became as one WITH God – which is something else entirely.

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.  John 12:44-50

9.  And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. (Deut 8:3) (Matt 4:4, Lk 4:4)

10.  1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience, in which ye also once walked, when ye lived in them.

But now ye also put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Do not lie one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

12 Therefore, holy and beloved, as the elect of God, put on hearts of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering, 13 forbearing one another and forgiving one another if any man have a quarrel against another: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body, and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father by Him.    (Colossians 3: 1-17)

  1. Agreed! The thing i always wonder about religion is this… why is it that as many people are as bad at it as they are at Maths yet no-one ever says Maths is a load of crap that we would be better off without?

    Ok – almost no-one 😉

It is probably to be expected that Jesus’s Brother would be able to ‘nail’ it 🙂

    Welcome, ‘Brother’ soul.

  2. Thank you lwbut for the Scripture you shared, some of them are my favorites too but as for Maths it’s not a reality to me and we don’t need it , just because some say we do who cares what they think can they prove it’s needed, they have got it all wrong anyway, 2+2 does not equal 4 it’s 22 so very logical why don’t they get it!.

Seriously lwbut there are other Scriptures that show the Godhead or Trinity as we call Them today very clearly, They are One in Spirit, God The Father, Jesus The Living Word and The Holy Ghost, although their roles are different .

Below is some of the Scripture that confirms the Trinity or Godhead as a Reality.

    The Godhead……

1 John 5: 7 For there are Three that bear record in Heaven, The Father, The Word and The Holy Ghost and these Three are One.KJV

Matthew 1:22-23 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the Prophet saying; Behold a Virgin shall be with Child and shall bring forth a Son and they shall call His Name Emmanuel which being interpreted is God with us.KJV

Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a Child is born unto us a Son is given and the Government shall be upon His shoulder and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His Government and Peace there shall be no end upon the throne of David, and upon His Kingdom,to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will perform this.KJV

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the Light of men. And the Light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.KJV

John 14:8-11 Philip said, “Lord show us the Father and that will be enough for us” Jesus answered; “Don’t you know me Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, rather it is the Father living in me who is doing His work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.KJV

Colossians 1:14 -17 In who we have redemption through His blood the forgiveness of Sins. Who is the image of the invisible God the firstborn of every creature: For by Him were all things created, that are in Heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him,and for Him: And He is before all things and by Him all things consist. (John 1:1-3 ) (KJV)

Colossians 2:9 For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.KJV

Genesis 1:26 – 27 And God said, Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created Man in His Own image in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.KJV

Revelation 1:7-8 Behold He cometh with clouds and every eye shall see Him and they also which pierced Him and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so Amen. I am Alpha and Omega the beginning and the ending saith the Lord which is and which was and which is to come The Almighty.KJV

Revelation 19:15-16 And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the Nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a Name written, KING OF Kings and LORD OF Lords.KJV

Isaiah 54 :5 For thy Maker is thine Husband; the Lord of hosts is His Name and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel, The God of the whole earth shall He be called.KJV

  3. I have always been interested in the connection between science and religion. At one time I subscribed to a publication by that name (I think) For awhile, there were several books on the topic, but now I do not see much.

    • I know there are certain ( some would say insurmountable, bit i beg to differ) differences between the two and their respective approaches. I believe God is big enough to encompass and establish the truth in either and both at the same time. 🙂

  4. Just got to browse through this page! A few years ago, I came across this website where science and faith converge. https://www.reasons.org/. “Reasons to Believe (RTB’s) mission is to spread the Christian Gospel by demonstrating that sound reason and scientific research—including the very latest discoveries—consistently support, rather than erode, confidence in the truth of the Bible and faith in the personal, transcendent God revealed in both Scripture and nature”

    • Brilliant! Have saved the website as a bookmark to check out and refer to! Thank you Sa!

The name of my blog is partly inspired by a ‘dream,’ i have of uniting those who choose not to believe in a Supreme Deity that connects all life with everything else with those whackos ( jk ) who think some really ancient guy who lives up in the clouds and watches over us and sends the bad ones to Hell when they die has told us exactly how to behave in this world and if we do we’ll live a really neat and pure and perfect life with him up in said clouds for ever and ever.

There is a middle ground and the extremists on both sides need to recognise the validity therein! 🙂

Maybe then people might be able to live together down here in a more helpful and friendly fashion??

      Like i said…. it’s a dream….

      • Your welcome! 🙂 10 years ago, I began a journey to read the bible more in depth that changed my life. I, too, was concerned about hostility between various groups and the lack of unity. It’s good to have a worthy dream.

        • I only started reading it seriously in my 30’s!

I think it’s a brilliant book – even with all the omissions and selective editing. I believe that it gives the reader the level of information that is suitable for their current stage of development and level of belief.

You can get more out of it the more you put into it… and there is always higher levels of understanding/meaning than the one we read at the time.

I started with Revelation and sort of worked backward from the New Testament to the Old – i’m like that! 😉 … and i love a good Mystery. 🙂

  5. Lots of verses in here that are on my ‘tops’ list 😉
And I love what you said in the comments here : ”I believe God is big enough to encompass and establish the truth in either and both at the same time. 🙂”
I grew up reading the Bible… but somehow never fully appreciated it till I reached adulthood. Sometimes we need to hit rock bottom before we discover that He is the rock at the bottom.

Your dream about middle ground is something I have often thought about – here’s hoping that one day it can be a reality!

  6. It’s very nice to know we seem to have things and thoughts in common! 🙂

The Bible is such an incredible (series of) Book(s).

My parents were not very religious and i grew up without a religious base to my childhood, but a workmate (who was raised Catholic) and i were discussing religion and she challenged me to read the book of Revelation as she knew i liked a good mystery. 🙂

It got me hooked and i bought my own Bible and began reading and learning. It lead on to me investigating different forms of religious thinking and philosphy’s

All this was built upon a love of science and mathematics and using logical, analytical thought.

It broadened my horizons somewhat. 🙂

I’d love it if more people could expand their perspectives a little, just enough to see why they may not see the full picture and why people who disagree with their view might have an equally valid a view as they do themselves.

Then maybe we could learn from one another and not fight with each other so much!

The trick is learning how to do that without seeming ‘pushy’. 😉 😋

  7. My parents were what I guess you could call ‘overly religious’.
I tend to be more about the relationship than the religious side of it.

As far as broadening horizons is concerned – it’s tough breaking through the belief systems that some people have. Even me. There have been situations and circumstances where I haven’t wanted to admit that possibly I might be a little bit wrong in my way of thinking.
Expanding perspective takes a willing heart and mind. Some people find this easier than others. Some people need to be coaxed along. And some people will never join that party. Each to their own, I guess. It would be a very boring world if we were all the same. 😛

But a willingness to learn from each other so that we could all find a way to just get along? Ideal!!!!!

    • “There have been situations and circumstances where I haven’t wanted to admit that possibly I might be a little bit wrong in my way of thinking.”

Reading that i had a big broad grin on my face! 😃

Of course you are right – there’s a LOT of different kinds of people in this world and it makes it ‘interesting’.

I’d like it if there was a teeny bit more tolerance of our apparent differences and less violent disagreement. Then we could be as different as we wish but all be happier! That’s got to be a good thing – yes? 🙂

I think i could just about imagine what it was like to have your parents – but you seem to have come out of it with a little bit of ‘normality’, but i imagine it took a while and more than a little effort on your part? 😀

      • More tolerance would DEFINITELY inspire less violence, unnecessary arguing and a sense of peace!
I’ll tolerate you, if you’ll tolerate me 😛

Calling me normal is an insult – I am extraordinary! 😛 😉

Yes, copious amounts of effort – daily.
AND lots of difficult and hurtful lessons along the way. Funny thing is that when I changed my attitude towards all the painful stuff and chose to learn from it, things started to improve and I started to change for the better.
Guess that’s what growth is really about – allowing the challenges to bring about a positive change within yourself! Well, that’s what it is to me anyway 😉

  8. I can definitely ‘tolerate’ you AND even appreciate your humour! 😀

The more i find out the more extraordinary you are! 🙂 To be fair i did say you only had a little bit of normality. 😉

Your last paragraph i am in total agreement with – we are supposed to learn from all our experiences, the good and the not at all good, for positive change. 🙂

I have to sign off for an hour or so – stay happy! 😀

The name is Bob, by the way and i’m ‘guessing’ yours is Meg?

    Bye for now, Meg. 🙂
