    Wise, sage, old Bless’d Tam has taught me the error of my (vengeance seeking) ways.

    I had hoped that you might have also had your ass whooped learned a valuable lesson from Her Graciousness but it seems the folly of youth continueth still 🙂

    But since i can follow my Master’s widom i can forgive you anything and am happy to answer your slightly viciously loaded question.

    The numbers, as you correctly suspected, are NOT representative of your age. Like Ed i am far too much of a gentleman (COUGH!) to ask a lady her age (how old is that exactly, Hun? 😉 ) nor would i ever stoop so low as to publish a lady’s age on the net for ALL the world to see (She turns the big Three-Oh next year folks!!!)

    Clearly Ed has reached double figures by now surely?

    No the Numbers are the number of your (most commonly used) name – Mandy in your case and not Amanda (34 – Ooooh!)

    Total is derived from the addition of the ‘places’ of each letter in the English Alphabet (Queen’s english – 26, not Southern english – 19! y’aww) 🙂

  13. Leesh – i have answered this q once but am happy to do so for your eddy-fik-ation:

    Wow! is because the numbers of your first name add up to the same total as G O D ! – 26!

    Also, by pure coincidence, the total number of letters we use in our spoken language today (unless you speak American ‘Southern’ 😉 ).

    It was this that most attracted me to compare numbers and letters (although i had done it as a kid when we were ‘into’ codes and code-breaking).

    And to bring in Mandy’s q here…

    We understand things because of various ‘base’ systems.

    Our most common ‘bases’ are 10 and 26 in the English speaking world today.

    Our numbering system is a decimal, digital (man has 10 digits) base 10 system
    while our spoken word is an alphabtical (base 26) system. Our computers use ONLY a binary (base 2) system to do all the things they do for us in our communications/use of them.

    Occasionally i can find ‘useful’ patterns that are not obvious in one system by transposing things into another system

    For example: seven(7) in base 2 is: 111;
    Christ in base 10 is: 77; and
    111 in base 26 is ‘G’

    Music that is most often used in our culture is a ‘base 7’ coding (7 notes) although it also has 5 semitones.

    I happen to think that all things are ‘connected’ – in one way or another 😉

    Mandy – WHY numbers? 2 reasons:
    1. i LIKE them – they never lie (we humans can make mistakes but the numbers always ‘make sense’ to me.

  22. Since you’re back on the numbers thing, I thought I’d share a discovery I made when doing the word study on ‘love’ that I referenced on another of your posts a while back.

    The Greek work ‘agape’, describing God’s love that we are to have for one another, is the 26th word listed in Strongs Concordance of the New Testament (at least in the computer version of it that I have). That basically just means listing the words alphabetically (beginning with ‘alpha’ from the Greek alphabet), that word for ‘love’ was number 26 (that’s how you look up words in the concordance once you’ve found their number in a Greek/English interlinear translation.

    I just thought it was interesting since your system also assigns God the number ’26’, and from 1 Jn. 4:16, we know that “God is love” (‘agape’-26 =)!

    I am glad that my friends in cyberspace have been kind enough to respond to those posts as i have learned more about myself in the process and have learned more aspects of the ‘Sins’ than i knew of before and so can now have a better chance of overcoming them now that wareness is improved.     And Tam is definitely stalking me – and i would not have it any other way 😀

    Sad part is – just about all these lovely ladies are happily married and i don’t go there, girlfren’ – so we remain very good friends and they all bless me beyond belief.

    As to what kind of believer am i?

    UN-traditional would be an appropriate word. I read and have faith in Scripture – but not always as literally as some and sometimes more generally than most.

    I don’t attend any church but commune with God ‘one-to-one’.

    I believe God is far greater than just a single (male) personality and is in and is ‘everything’ that the human mind can conceive and infinitely more besides, but accept that he is more than able to assume one (male personality) to suit His purpose at various times.

    I believe Jesus Christ is the greatest single role model for a human being i know of.and that any individual is able to establish a direct and personal connection to Him through faith and works (upon their own beliefs/thoughts, for, while it is He who may be the creator of the relationship, our thoughts/will can be the things that prevent us from accepting what He is able to offer and if we are ever to join Him it’s up to us to DO what we must in order to let his Will live and grow within us. We may not make Him – but we can and often do reject Him – even those who pretend to themselves that they don’t)

    By the term believer i mean a human being – since there is not one of us who – at the very core of who he or she is – does not believe in something which remains forever unprovable by them, be they Christian, Hindu or Atheist. (Or any other label people might have stuck to them).

    Some people place very limited understanding on the term, such as only one who believes in (their) True God/Belief they way they see and do it, accusing all others of UNbelief.

    I believe ALL religions (well, what most might define as the ‘major’ ones and given that their is no single major religion but rather a muddled collection of what amounts to ‘sects’ grouped under a very vague umbrella term like Christian or Muslim or Judaism) contain some members who are of the True Faith – that is who do what God teaches them to the best of their present abilities – as well as many who are in it more for what they get out of it here and not in the hereafter. (And i don’t ascribe to that sort of belief as being in any way ‘true’ – the great deceiver is at work in them).

    I believe that humans can and do change over time- some for the better, many for the worse – and that even so called ‘holy men of God’ may fall into the latter category. (and yes, i can too if and when i place more Faith in ‘me’ and my ego than in Him).

    Did that Help your understanding any? or just leave you more confused than ever? 😉

    Back to the numbers thing. I ran across a guy 30 years or so ago that coined a new term, “Theomatics”. You can google him. Not putting my endorsement, but grabbed the idea the 37 was significant. As I remember, he describes it as God’s fingerprint in the Word.

    AJ – in all truth i could not tell you what the ’emerging church’ are, do or believe so i cannot honestly answer that question. Even if we held similar beliefs in some respects i can’t imagine me actually joining one of them either since, currently, and for all my ‘religious’ life (as compared to my entire life – i was once more atheistically inclined), i have preferred to go one-to-one with God and not have to follow what someone else thinks about Him as i know He is more than capable of communicating with me through my own brain about how to recognise Him. Like everyone though – my perceptions are subject to some degree of error and it is up to me and God’s Will how i go about recognising and correcting that.

    Scripture is a great aid in this. Providing one realises that our human pre-perceptions affect the meaning we gain from it. Otherwise it just supports one’s own internal (ie. not perfectly of God) Biases and we learn little – if anything – of Him.

  75. Yes, God will let you know what’s going on. We are created to belong to the body of Christ, that’s in Romans, I think. It is in and with the body that I do the most spiritual growing. Relationships are messy but I believe how well we get along with others is a good way to measure our spiritual growth and gives us great insight into how God loves us. Why do you want to worship alone?

  76. ‘Want’ to worship alone…. Hmmm… i never thought of it that way!

    Every time i have been to a church worship i have felt decidedly uncomfortable – quite the opposite from how i feel when i commune with Him in quiet contemplation. There is just something in them that comes across to me as being ‘phony’ – artificial somehow – it is difficult to describe exactly.. like people are putting on an act for God and think he’ll be fooled by it – maybe because they are fooled themselves and perhaps they genuinely believe they are in His house and are doing what He wants them to do in church, for an hour or two a week, and then they go back to living their ‘normal’ lives once out the door. And i feel almost obliged to act the same way.

    This has been my ‘experience’ – on every occasion.

    Some of the most unchristian people i know go to church ‘religiously’ and then seem to think they can behave how they feel like the rest of the time.

    And i know you know some people like that! 🙂

    If i don’t behave the same in church as i do out of it what is the point of going?

    I’d rather learn to ‘do’ church every minute of the day than attend once a week.

    Jesus never built a hall and tried to get people to visit Him in it – he went out and did His Ministry wherever he found those in need. And they were everywhere They still are.

    Those who find a benefit from being part of a crowd of worshippers together united in one place for a certain time are quite welcome to continue to worship in the way they believe in.

    I have not yet found either a place or a need (nor felt a command) for me to do as them.

    If anything the reverse is true for me.

  77. I love this perspective. What I find ironic about me reading this is that we just discussed this in our church….the piece about being who you are at church, not something you aren’t and that God loves you for that.
    I searched a lot of years before I found a church that allowed me to just be me and where I did not feel I had to act differently on Sunday morning. I can honestly say I know where you are coming from.
    I can also say I totally love how you worship. Many people would just walk away from faith if in your shoes because they would have only seen the negative in your journey where you have seen the positive in being one-to-one. I am no pastoral mentor here by any means, but I might be inclined to think that this is what God’s plan is. He realizes he needs you one to one and this is where you serve best.

    Now, all that said, based on reading there are a lot of West Coasts in this world. I manufacture educational maps and globes for schools and know of many. So, your location is pretty clear to me but I would love a latitude/longitude. Based on something above I am thinking Aussie??? It might have even been cleared just not sure if I read all of it.

    My curiosity on location is selfish. My wife and I travel at least once a year out of the country. Looking for great new places to go.

    Thank you for your understanding, as you rightly said it is about where each one of us can ‘serve’ best. Each one of us has our own unique sum collection of ‘gifts’ and abilities.

    I think it is excellent you work at giving American’s globes and maps, there does seem sometimes to be a real need for that amongst your fellow citizens who at times can seem to be rather more concentrated on their own part of the world than most, often to the exclusion of an awareness of any other country..

    My West Coast is the boarder of the Indian Ocean’s eastern boundary and my Home City is the most isolated City of comparable size in the world with a location of 32 deg S and 116 deg East. Basically if you headed East from your home and passed through North Carolina, got on a boat and continued sailing due east till you hit Bermuda…

    You’d then be exactly on the opposite side of the world to me! From there you could take a straight line in any direction and if you kept on going in that direction you’d come to Perth!

    Australia certainly has some quite unique features but if you came to Perth you may find you feel like you have not left your Own home (apart from the fact we drive on the Left here!)

    Oh and there are no Starbucks in this city – yet! 😉

  80. Hi Bob, I just perused your “about” page. How come the comments stop at 2011? Wow, that is a long, long time ago. I enjoyed re-reading Love’s Creed from the St James bible. I am very familiar with it, but I forget it often. The St James translation is the absolute best, especially the line “love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up”. Please let me know if you read this, otherwise I can email you with my comment. I am sure there are more comments past 2011!

      Since i resumed my blog about 3 years ago i’ve checked your, Brandy and Tam’s old blogs but there was no activity. 😦

      I avoid facebook like the plague – it gives me nothing but bad vibes and the data they store (and sell) on you and your personal traits/profile is more and more worrying to me. (I’m trying to wean myself entirely from the clutches of Google for similar reasons).

      Every now and then i re-read one of my old posts, along with the comments, and smile and miss ‘the good old days’ with you Brent, Tam and Brandy, and many others.

      I’ve found that there are very few ‘negative’ bloggers on WordPress, compared to say, Twitter or facebook, where so many trolls operate it seems.

      If you’d like to leave comments here or want to let Tam and Brandy know my blogsite addy so they can do likewise that would be great but i’d prefer not to ‘chat’ on facebook, if at all possible.

      Give me my computer to a smartphone any day of the decade! 😉

      • Oh helloooo Love!! Tammy has awakened everyone’s love for our old blogging days! Every so often I visit my old blog just to remind myself that I CAN write even if I don’t currently. I will have to dig into yours for the last few years and see what you’ve been up to! I had actually quit blogging because my marriage was falling apart and I didn’t want to write about it – and I also didn’t want to fake it. Fast forward to now, and our marriage has been rebuilt, our three little boys are now 12, almost 14, and 15! I look nothing like my profile picture on here anymore – at all! I barely remember that girl! 😜

        Ahhhh I feel like I’ve run into an old friend! I’m so glad I asked if anyone else remembered you because I think about you often and wonder “what ever happened with Love?” I especially think of you whenever we eat hot dogs because of one time you went on and on to me about how awful they were, and if we HAD TO eat them, not to eat them more than once a month. 😆😆😆😆

          After i restarted my blogging in 2016 i looked around for some ‘familiar faces’ but everyone seemed to have moved to Facebook and the place was deserted. 😦

          As i told Ed, I had tried Facebook for a while, but found that it’s not for me – I really don’t ‘like’ it. 😦

          Am so glad you and Jake managed to turn things around and hope that being a family makes you all happy (well, as happy as five different individuals ever can be anyway! 😉 ) Your kids are teenagers? How did THAT happen so fast? 😉

          Did i REALLY harangue you over hot dogs??? – I think i may have ‘mellowed’ somewhat over the years??? 🙂

          I needed a break from blogging as my health was not good and my body was breaking down a bit – my immune system seems to be a bit defective (understatement!) and besides my long term Rheumatoid arthritis i’ve had my pancreas and kidneys fail leaving me an insulin injecting diabeties and having to have a kidney transplant (so now i have 3! – only 2 don’t really do much anymore).

          So now i take it a bit easy and take my meds and things seem to be going smoothly for me at the moment, which, considering the state of much of our world right now, i am more than happy with! 🙂

          SO, now you know where i ‘live’ don’t be a stranger OK?

          And if you talk with Tam and Brent give them my love. ❤

        • Awww! You even remembered “Bwan!” Mandy still addresses me that way sometimes. I love it. I love endearing nicknames from friends. 🙂

          Yes! My boys are teenagers! My oldest is basically a full grown MAN at this point – his hormones and brain cells are still waiting to grow up though. ha! But seriously, two of my boys are MUCH taller than me, and the youngest isn’t far behind. There are way too many deep voices in my house! Im so outnumbered I got myself a little female dog about 4 years ago. She’s my little lap dog and bed snuggler.

          Im sorry to hear about your health problems, but glad to know they are under control (as much as our health can be). So scary that you had a kidney transplant!!! Im glad that turned out okay as well.
          I had my own health scare last year. At 36 years old (at the time) they thought I had a heart attack. I presented at the emergency room with all the symptoms and effects of a heart attack, but all tests were negative. I was sent home with the explanation that it was a panic attack. Except Im very well medicated for that to not be an issue. Ha! But truly, it was NOT a panic attack. I went for a second opinion to my mental health doctor (since the doctors were so certain it was a mental health issue) and THANK GOD FOR HER because she noticed something in my blood work that wasn’t normal. Had she not noticed that, I would have been dead within a few months. My body was slowly shutting down. Its a very long detailed explanation, but long story short I had a severe iron and ferritin deficiency. My levels were a 4.2 (deadly) and your body will die before your numbers reach 0. It was a truly divine intervention that we caught it when we did. I had three iron infusions from May to November, I wore a heart monitor for a week, had a CT scan/angiogram, and had to quit my second job because I almost landed myself in the ER again. I ended up having a hysterectomy the day after Christmas last year. I was more than happy to put 2018 behind me! This year has been a year of regaining my health after very literally nearly dying last year.

          I’ve wanted to start my blog back up again so many times. Night owl hours are my best hours for my brain to process well enough to write anything of worth. The trouble with that is our lives right now do not allow for that. I have three part time jobs plus three kids in school and sports plus volunteer a lot at church – I have to keep boring hours now! 😉

          I hope you enjoy a good hot dog every now and then! 😉 We are big fans of all beef hot dogs, even if your voice is in the back of my head telling me to not eat so many! haha! Actually, my youngest LOVES hot dogs. They are unfortunately his favorite food. Ay yi yi. He has a hot dog pillow and a hot dog pen too.

          Im so glad to be reconnected! I have such a big smile on my face and loved seeing that you replied! Here’s to staying connected (again)! ❤

        • Never going to forget little Bwan-muffin! So many good times shared with you and Tam and Mandy on our blogs. 🙂

          Wow, i can really relate to your experience, only with me it was potassium, not Iron that was the issue.

          I had a full body paralysis and could barely breath one night and my Mum had to call an ambulance to take me to the ER. i needed 17 bags of potassium drip.

          That’s when i was diagnosed with pancreatic failure (making me diabetic) and stage 4 renal failure.

          Fortunately the doctors got the picture right from the get go – up until 6 hours before i was admitted i had no idea of the condition i was in having no symptoms!?
          I was kept in there for 7 days.

          As part of my treatment i’ve had an iron infusion also, but my new kidney is keeping my blood pretty well regulated now and i don’t have anaemia any more.

          So glad you chose the second opinion and God guided you to someone who went the extra yard for you!

          Sounds like you’ve really been through it, but here’s hoping the worst is behind you and you can ease up a little and come back even better than before! 🙂

          I do actually have the occasional hot dog – beef of course. If you want to see if Owen can break his addiction try arranging for a tour of a hot dog factory where he can see what goes into one from start to finish 0 if you could be so cruel??? 😉

          As for blogging, as the Good Book says, there is a time and a season…

          When the time is right, and if it is important, (in the Big Scheme of Things) it’ll happen.

          I generally try to post one ‘Funny’ (a made up or ‘borrowed’ joke) each day and usually post a few pics from my garden or suburb – maybe once in a while i’ll post something that’s been on my mind or i find interesting to share with others. If you like to or if there is ‘time’ you can say hi in a comment and i always reply when i see them.

          I can see that big beaming smile and sparkling eyes from all the way down here! 😉

          So, I AM well (-ish) at the moment, my kidneys having just about breathed their last gasp around Christmas 2014 (not a nice time), and being granted a new one in Feb 2016. Thanks to good hospital care and religiously following Doctor’s advice and medication i manage reasonably well. 🙂 Still live with Mum and we do our best to look after the other.

          Would you ever blog on a (semi-)regular basis?? Can be tricky with the time zone differences but i always smile when i read our old comments and remember when you and Mandy and Brandy would blitz other people’s blogs. 🙂

          I believe congratulations are in order (overdue!) as you are now a published author!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
          (I snuck a peek at ‘Tam Hodge’ blog a little while back – don’t tell Tam!) and you finally got to live somewhere there is a beach and sunshine! Am glad you made that possible again. 🙂

          I hope you and Brent and Kass and ‘Kota have been keeping well and are all in touch – from what i saw at the blog everything seems to be turning out the way it should for you – who could ask for more? 🙂
