Yet another of my flowers which seems to have forgotten the script when it comes to staying true to their colour, First my ‘red’ poppies, then the ‘blue’ plumbago and now this ‘blue moon’ rose.
(Click on image to open in a new window and click again to expand) 🙂It’s trying it’s best but it’s just falling a few colour strips short of the target for a true blue rose. 🙂
.
This one has completely lost the plot! Blue it is not. 🙂
A pink blue rose with a deep red bud growing off the same stem – pretty, as in pretty unusual.
.The raindrops cooled this bloom down a little but not enough to turn it blue.
.
Warming up in the Spring sunshine made this one take on an even deeper pink blush! 🙂

Thanks for your comment, Derrick! 🙂
Initially i wanted to post the whole flower as there are many more drops on the outer petals, but i saw it super-close up and liked the framing and it also would have looked too ‘samey’ if i had five whole flower shots. 😉

But, do they smell as sweet?

Funny you should ask Mrs Shakespeare…
These have the most sublime perfume i have ever smelt on a rose.
It is very hard to describe accurately as saying it is sweet is comparable to saying the Dead Sea is a bit salty.
The only thing that comes close to the fragrance is the ‘taste’ of a Barratt’s Sherbet Fountain, an English and Australian ‘delicacy’ (fizzy on the tongue powdered candy)!
Super-sweet and ever so slightly lemony. 🙂

I have very poor sandy soils where i live – i think it could benefit from more organic matter… and lots more rain! 😦
But they are still pretty and smell nice! 🙂

So jealous you have spring! Our weather has been kind of murky for weeks.

I won’t rub it in. 😇
There is a down side here… we’ve had virtually no rain for 2 months and the weather is starting to warm up – am getting concerned for my garden, doing lots of handwatering but my rainwater tanks are already getting low and this early that is not good. 😦
