It seems more and more of my plants can’t follow the script when it comes to staying true to their colour, as i have amply described in previous poppy FOTD’s.
Here is the latest one to want to ‘wing it’ – my ‘blue’ plumbago, or one of several plants in particular. 🙂
(Click on image to open in a new window and click again to expand) 🙂A few of the petals are doing their best to be blue, but the overall effect of this inflorescence is to appear decidedly of the ‘white’ variety. So, as it turns out, is the extremely tiny spider! – A single petal is around 1cm (0.4 in) long.
.The long tubular flower stems show closer to the flower’s intended shade but the message is not reaching the petals? If you look reeeeeally closely you should be able to find at least 3 more insects seeking a meal in this delightful location. 🙂
(Expanding the image would greatly help!)
.
This is what the other two stems should have looked like! 🙂

There is a miniscule midge on one of the very top flower bud edges and a big beetle/bug underneath at the centre on a small leaf. I’m not quite sure what the other one is but it’s clinging to a petal of the flower to the extreme right.

I would certainly agree! 🙂
I have several of these plants, some have pure white flowers some have the baby blue colour. They’ve always stayed just one colour per plant… until this year?? Weird…
… but pretty with it. 😉
