It might be quite common to many people but to the people of Perth, Western Australia this is a pretty rare event, especially seeing one and having my camera handy.
This is mainly because Perth is the most isolated state capital city of any country on Earth, with the exception of Honolulu. Almost every jet plane that passes overhead is either taking off or landing at Perth International Airport. Rarely does a plane pass high enough for con trails to form.
Also, the air above Perth usually has insufficient humidity and temperatures for their formation. Also you might notice that the vapour trail evaporates very quickly after being formed and does not hang around in the sky like they do in the Northern latitudes. (The trail stayed in this proportion to the airplane for it’s full trajectory across the late afternoon sky).
So I was rather pleased to catch this. 🙂
