Last time (FOTD Sept 12) i posted some of my first ‘traditional’ rememberance poppies – with variations. This time some of my ‘wild’ poppies (Papaver argemone) which have come up in abundance, including where i never planted them!
(You can click pics to get a better view in a new window!) 🙂
These poppies are almost all uniformly orange and although fairly small they are prolific. Sadly a flower will rarely last for a full day, losing it’s petals the day they first open.
A close-up showing the 7 ‘clock point’ common to the larger of these poppies.
Another original (cropped) photo of the smaller poppies. These 3 pods have only 5 clock points
Close-up of a rare 6 clock point seed pod..

Poppies have a truly beautiful way of capturing and reflecting sunlight – these definitely shine with a pure orange glow. 🙂
