My wisteria vine is beginning it’s Springtime blossoming as the multitude of ‘catkins’ rapidly expand and the buds open out to show off their beautiful white and yellow petals and release their delightful perfume around my garden. 🙂
Today i noticed a curious coincidence as white with a splash of yellow is also the colour scheme of some of our cockatoo’s, and the individual wisteria flowers have more than a passing resemblance in shape to yesterday’s FOTD, the Templetonia retusa which is also named ‘Cocky’s tongues’! 🙂
(Click on a pic to open in a new window and click again to see enlarged detail!) 🙂You can see a similar structure of each individual flower to those of the Templetonia from yesterday’s post – it’s more obvious if you enlarge the image. 🙂
Turquoise blue Winter skies and featherlike wispy clouds make the perfect backdrop for the white flowers and purple buds of the wisteria!
Dozens of catkins await their turn to expand into voluminous white cascades. 🙂

Thank you very much… and you are correct to note that the beauty is not mine i merely try to enable more to see it for what it truly is. 🙂

It surprises me that you talk of white and yellow wisteria flowers — ours are always a light purple tone. These are beautiful!

Had these in my garden for over 30 years.
You don’t see all that many out here and the purple ones do seem to be more prevalent. 🙂
The buds on these begin as light lilac colour but open out brilliant white with a yellow ‘stripe’. I’ll see if i can get a good shot when they open more. 🙂
