FOTD – August 15 -Verbena (Verbena hortensis)

Another one of the ‘springtime’ flowers that are flowering in my garden way before the official start of Spring Down Under. 🙂

I love the way the flower opens as a circular ‘wreath’ comprising of several double-heart petalled flowers. 💕 Eventually all of the green ‘spikes’ in the centre will bloom and fill out the flower as the outer ones drop away.

lovewillbringustogether - purple verbena2White pollen erupts from the centre of the verbena like lava from a volcano. 🙂
