Or maybe not if you are a Magpie Lark? Sometimes called the Peewee or Peewit, for the sound of it’s call, the Magpie Lark (Grallina cyanoleuca) is native to Australia and Timor/New Guinea.

    • Thank you. The magpies here hold their ground! You can walk to within 5 or 6 metres from them, chasing them, and they will simply walk ‘around’ you – they are not concerned with flying away. In their breeding season they will attack humans if they feel their nest is threatened and this can mean simply walking within 50 metres of a nest!
