FOTD – June 3 – Plumbago, Blue or White?

Plumbago (Plumbago auriculata) sometimes also known as leadwort. It makes for some beautiful flower photos but i still have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with this fast growing, widely spreading, deep rooting plant…. or rather plants, as despite my best efforts, i have five of them, 3 blue and 2 white ones. 🙂

lovewillbringustogether -White Plumbago11The yet-to-open buds at the very tip of the flower stem are covered in spikes that are tipped with drops of a very sticky gum. They will catch onto feathers, fur and clothes to ensure they are propagated far and wide.
