FOTD – May 19 – Bush Violets (Barleria obtusa)

I’m training my Barleria Bush Violets to grow into small hedges in front of my lounge room window and now whenever i look out of one i get a sea of small lilac coloured faces staring back at me!

In hot weather the seed pods burst open propelling their seeds in all directions and it can sometimes sound like someone is throwing small stones at the window as a seed pings off one! 🙂

    • Impatiens are beautiful, so full of different colour! 🙂

The Barleria is much more tolerant of sun and heat and the pods explode off the plant when the heat dries them out. The seeds are also around 1/4-1/2 in long so if they hit you – you know it! 😉
