I really love 2 for 1 deals – it’s the skinflint in me! 😉
So when my marigold seedlings i bought died off leaving thousands of seeds behind i planted some back in the same pot, covered with a little soil, watered them and took a photographic record of what was to follow! 🙂
(Click on a pic to open in a new window and click again to see enlarged detail!) 🙂
The first opened bud!! 🙂
Moved into the sunshine and more followed. 🙂
Bursting out into colour!
Even better than before! 🙂

Priya Patel – seed to bloom
Something new arose today
bloomed right from a stem life planted
A friendship fresh between unknown world’s
between the pages of a book seen slanted
Not at all normal
yet completely right,
seeds from words featherlight
a friendship new
right from a stem life planted

So pretty! I like the series showing how the marigolds grew into beautiful flowers. 🙂

I sowed around a hundred seeds and thinned them out as they grew back to just 20 or so plants. They filled an 18 inch hanging basket. It took around 6 weeks!
Did you see my earlier post of how the buds open up??

Thanks for the link to the buds! I hadn’t seen it. They are really sweet, all curled up like that, then bursting open with the bright flower! 🙂

It’s the benefit of looking at pics on a big screen… i never realised how their leaves ‘scrolled’ like that coming out of a bud, even though i had seem them often in real life (life sized) before. 😉
They are supposed to be French marigolds, but the French are famous for their crepes (not their ‘fries’) 😉 so i gave them the name! 🙂
