Welcome to PTFTD, a (semi-)regular feature on my blog. Each (ideally daily) post I will raise a topic for consideration that may hopefully give you pause for some serious, or not-so-serious contemplation throughout your day/night/week/life.
It’s as much for my personal benefit as anyone else’s who may find it of interest, as we all try to figure out just what life is all about and what on Earth we are all doing here or to each other?
Today’s Thought:
Have you ever felt like life is like a 10,000 piece jigsaw and you are picking up the pieces here and there as you grow older?
By now you have collected a few ‘side’ pieces and put some together to make some edges to give you a kind of idea of the size and scope of the whole picture. You have a lot of blue pieces and a lot of green ones, some reddy-orangey ones and a few yellow and some dark browns, maybe a bit of black also. You have got someone’s eyes and nose but there is no sign of a mouth or lips yet? You’ve pieced together some sails but there is no sign of the ship’s hull and there are a heck of a lot of pieces that go ‘somewhere’ but you need to sort them out and you’ll probably put some in the wrong ‘pile’ and some you just leave in the half of the box without the picture on it?
You know it should all fit into one picture perfect scene, and it probably all will one day, but for now all you can see are small patches of what’s going on with no real idea of how many bits you still need to complete the puzzle or how you are ever going to manage to fit all this ‘mess’ into something that makes sense and is, hopefully meaningful?
Do you ever feel that way?
Or is it just me?
I need to think on this for a while (longer) 🙂
.
love.
Yes. Except the pieces never fit like they do in a puzzle. We sort of shove them into place and the picture never looks quite right.

True – jigsaws have a ‘known’ structure we use to complete the puzzle/problem.
Life isn’t ever that straight forward – but we often fool ourselves into thinking it is – and then find out we didn’t quite understand it all just yet!
Thanks for helping me think this out some more Spike! 🙂

Was meditating (after a fashion) this morning and had a feeling of having so many pieces to a puzzle that i felt should all fit together so i could see the ‘Big Picture’ but all i could see at one time were small unconnected patches, some more complete than others.
I wish i had the ‘box’ they all came in!
Thanks for your comments, as always Derrick. 🙂

🙂 The box would certainly help

Amongst other things it might confirm or refute a theory that i have some pieces that don’t really belong to my Big Picture puzzle?
Sigh.

And just when your jigsaw makes up perfect the cat jumps and knocks it off the table and you have to start again. Life is very much a jigsaw.

My cats are more the metaphysical kind (and they’d probably be boisterous dogs or puppies) – but i fully get what you mean! 😉
Thanks a lot for your comment! 🙂
