Flower of the Day – December 12 – Lantana, Lavender and Life.

Although small i find lantana flowers to be some of the most interesting and beautiful flowers in my garden. They come in a variety of different colours and each plant can produce individual flower heads with colours that vary as each one ages – over a matter of days. The flowers can also either be one colour or multicoloured in any one head, which could consist of maybe 40-50 tiny ‘trumpets’.

The first photo has yellow single coloured flower heads growing through some lavender bushes in which you can see every stage of the lantana flower’s life from the very first mini-buds to the slightly dying flowers and the dead lavender heads.

The other photos show the variety of colours these flowers have.

    • I took the photo mainly to get the two flowers in the centre, but when it came to cropping it i found the overall effect was just too pretty to cut! 🙂
