Saturday’s FOTD of the Ixia and their background of Daisies reminded me that i have not yet had a chance to post a pic i took over a month ago showing ‘another side’ to these wonderful flowers.
They are Cape Daisies, also known as African, South African or the perfectly named ‘Blue-eyed’ Daisy. 🙂
I just find something supremely beautiful about the flowers in these pictures and i only had to walk 20 metres (~yards) from my back door with my camera to capture them. 🙂
The plants flower in either pure white or varying shades of purple, some of which may be striped. Any one plant can have all 1, 2 or all 3 types of flowers at the same time!

Well, being native of Southern Africa and doing so well here – on roughly the same latitude – i imagine they don’t like the colder winters too much?
It’s also possible that the suppliers sell plants modified to be annuals – for repeat sales?
Hmmmm… i just looked it up on a website that says they are an annual plant!?
I have to rip half of mine out by the roots or they would take over my garden – as far as i know they are perennials that never die??
