Philosophical Thought for the Day – 23 October 2018.

Thinking of Love
Love and Knowledge = Philosophy

Welcome to PTFTD, a (semi-)regular feature on my blog. Each (ideally daily) post I will raise a topic for consideration that may hopefully give you pause for some serious, or not-so-serious contemplation throughout your day/night/week/life.

It’s as much for my personal benefit as anyone else’s who may find it of interest, as we all try to figure out just what life is all about and what on Earth we are all doing here or to each other?

Today’s Thought:

Modern Physicists consider that there may be more than one Universe even possibly an infinite number of them.

This would seem to defy ‘common sense’ in that the Universe is supposed to be the sum total of Everything so how can there be more than one ‘Everything? – Where would it ‘fit’?

I have a ‘simple’ 😉 thought picture that may help see how Multiverses are possible and may exist ‘side by side’ with our Universe.

We know that there are 1, 2 and 3 dimensions in our Universe.

Imagine all there is in ‘our’ Universe is a straight line. It has length but no width and no height. Then imagine an infinite number of such lines side by side but not quite making direct contact. They would make a plane of length and width but no height. Then do the same for an infinite number of such planes – they effectively make up our ‘solid’ 3 dimensional Universe with length width and height.

From there it is a ‘simple’ step to imagine a multitude of 3D universes ‘side by side’ (in an extra dimension to our 3).

One day we may figure out how to move through a fourth dimension and we may be able to visit an infinite number of Earth’s!

I need to think on this for a while (longer) 🙂

love.
