Philosophical Thought for the Day – 20 October 2018.

Thinking of Love
Love and Knowledge = Philosophy

Welcome to PTFTD, a (semi-)regular feature on my blog. Each (ideally daily) post I will raise a topic for consideration that may hopefully give you pause for some serious, or not-so-serious contemplation throughout your day/night/week/life.

It’s as much for my personal benefit as anyone else’s who may find it of interest, as we all try to figure out just what life is all about and what on Earth we are all doing here or to each other?

Today’s Thought:

(Today’s Thought contains the essence of an idea that derives from some mathematical ponderings i have had recently when attempting to get a better grasp on how the Universe works…. but please don’t let that put you off! 😉 )

We each live somewhere between 2 extremes (a positive one and a negative one if you will), on several levels and on more than a single ‘theme’. We are constantly moving along a line between each pair of extremes of each theme. Perhaps it is better said that we are constantly being pulled towards either one or the other of the extremes until forces of harmony and balance pull us back toward the opposite. There are inter-relations between some of these themes in our life such that as one increases the other decreases at a proportional rate.

The actions of two such themes that are not running ‘in parallel’ are capable of producing a cycle, or rotation, meaning we can sometimes find ourselves repeating similar actions or events and may feel like we are going in circles or cycles in our life.

Everything in the Universe vibrates (between two relative positions) at mostly constant rates. There are fundamental rhythms guiding the motions which we ‘obey’ or are compelled by, often without even being aware of it.

If we want more control over our life we need to become more aware.

Rhythms, extremes, vibrations, cycles.

I need to think on this for a while (longer) 🙂

love.

  1. I think I have a headache which means I think it’s going to rain. Again. I swear I’d be in a better mood if we saw the sun for more than half an hour every few days. The grayness — and now it’s also cold — is really getting to me.

    • Your sure my PTFTD did not initiate the headache?? 😉

Living in the woods in Mass i guess you either got to learn to love the grey, wet, cold and snow, or at least not mind it?

Failing that Florida or maybe Arizona might be best?

Getting old, unfortunately does not help any but is not optional. Well, not in terms of the body anyway, our mind can stay young if we so choose. 🙂

  2. Fascinating…the phrase “cycle or rotation” strikes out at me. This is very similar to a conversation I had 10 years ago with a priest who described our set of actions as a upward spiral. Parallel, yet similar. Orbiting similar issues… When you encounter the similar situation again, you get to decide how you will respond to that situation. I was told I wasn’t going to find all my answers in that one event, 🙂 but each time I encounter it I was going to learn something new.
