Flower of the Day – September 23 – A Montage Of Poppies

To celebrate the Spring Equinox (Autumnal for all those of you ‘Up North’ of the Equator) i’m posting a bunch of brilliantly beautiful bright blooms!

Each year i get an increasing variety of different poppy hybrids as my original two types, the simple 4 petal red and black ‘cup’ type and the smaller, wild flat petalled orange poppies cross-pollinate. 🙂

I have supplied a slide gallery for those who wish a ‘quick’ preview as well as each individual photo. I strongly recommend taking the time to view each pic individually so that you can better see the incredible subtle variations in these magnificent creations of nature… the coruscating sheen of the petals, their sometimes slippery smooth reflectiveness of the sunlight off them, the crinkliness of others, the variations of each one’s ‘cross’ with 0, 2, 4 and 6 point varieties, the weird, spikey nature of their buds and stems at such odds with the opened flower.

I’m simply bewitched by them… maybe you will be too? 😀
