I’d love to claim i have these specimens in my garden, but alas, they are those of some of my neighbours’ on my block. 🙂 I am really jealous of the second one as i have never previously seen such a pure bright red franjipani flower anywhere. I assume it’s a new hybrid. I’m only moderately jealous of the former as it is a beautiful flower and has an incredible fragrance, but there are a bunch of them in my small part of suburbia.
Of my own trees (3), currently 2 are yet to flower and the more mature tree is too tall to photograph! – the flower stalks are all 2 metres (7ft) plus above the ground. It is one of the more common pink/yellow flowering variety’s.

Thanks Cee! 🙂 They are pretty special – and they do really well in our climate!

These greatly resemble cyclamen. I wonder if they are related? Lovely flowers.

Thank you Marilyn.
I have grown an excellant crop of Cyclamen from seed this year that are just starting to flower!
Mine are just small plants in little pots and grow from ‘corms’ while the franjipani’s i posted are full woody stemmed trees and have many multiflowering bunches of flowers per plant. I’m pretty sure there is no direct relation?
I will admit that there is a definite resemblance between the individual flowers though 🙂
The franjipani smell beautiful while i have not found the cyclamen to have much perfume.
