Flower of the Day – January 12, 2018 -Plumbago (Leadwort)

While it is a very vigorous and invasive plant and will take over any area if you let it, it does have one redeeming quality – it blooms profusely and the blooms are serenely beautiful. (Either in pure white or this shade of light blue) 😉

The variegated leaves of a New Zealand Christmas Tree (Metrosideros excelsa: it has bright red flowers in December) makes a nice background contrast to the blue plumbago. 🙂

    • Be careful what you wish for! 😉 Some people have them as hedges bordering their gardens or property. That can look pretty spectacular!… but they send out tendril roots and shoots EVERYWHERE when they get established.
