Flower of the Day – May 19, 2017 – Wild Gladiolus

I notice our friend and fellow photographer Cee (link below) has chosen to go with the same name FOTD 2 days in a row!

If it’s good enough for Cee it’s definitely good enough for mee! 🙂

Lots of you liked the Gladi from yesterday but i feel i might have given a somewhat misleading pic there. These Gladioli love to clump up in bunches (they are a bulb flower) have up to 7 flowers on a single stem and are not as huge as they looked. I love the markings, which from a distance of over a metre (3ft), look exactly like little arrows in purple and red! 🙂 (or maybe the hands of a clock at 20 to 4?)

… They are still every bit as beautiful though, up close. DSCF1565
