We may live in very troubled times and things are definitely not the way everyone would wish them to be but i would hope that all of us could take just a moment or two over the coming days to remember why most of the Western World celebrates a Holi-day at this particular time of year.
It is to celebrate and remember in a very small way (relatively) the ultimate personal sacrifice that one person can make in order to give something of benefit to the entire world. It is the concept of putting others (even all others) before self.
Greater love hath no-one than this: To lay down one’s life for one’s friends¹. – John Ch 15, Vs 12
It should in no way be belittled for the fact that very few of us actually were able to take advantage of the benefit at any time in the last 2000 years, other than getting some time off work. That is our personal failing, not His.
