Ok, so the Bible is a great book, said to be written through Divine Inspiration and all…
… but it can’t half be confusing to us mere mortals at times!
Take Cain for example.
Cain was the first-born of Adam and Eve, the First man and First woman who were cast out from Paradise/Eden after disobeying God’s will.
Cain had a brother Abel and through jealousy and sibling rivalry Cain killed his Bro’, displeasing God pretty greatly.
God punishes Cain whilst at the same time showing some Mercy to him.
Next thing the Bible tells us is:
Ge 4:17. And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
If Cain married his wife she must have been roughly the same age as he was, i.e. born around the same time.
Here’s the confusing part… Born to whom? Eve? Making her his sister? I’m pretty sure that’s not on with God.
So did God create other men and women who had kids like Cain’s wife? Did God then create these other people like Adam and Eve? Without Original Sin? Did they also listen to the serpent and eat of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil to be made sinful too? Or did he just make them sinful to start with? or was Cain’s wife made completely without sin?
Lots of questions: precious few answers right now.
And that’s just verse four, Chapter One. 😦
